Tips to survive college.

So I realized in quite a few posts, I've talked about last semester and how badly I did.
I just wanted to share with you guys a few reasons why this happened, so that maybe, possibly, you can avoid it.

First of all, go. to. class. Trust me, I thought every morning that I deserved a day off of classes. That way the biggest reasons for the three failing grades, as well as why I had a C and not higher than that. I skipped so many times and it really, seriously screwed up my entire semester, along with my GPA. I've seen one a few websites say "If you attend every class, it's almost impossible to fail." So take that into account when you think "Hm... Another two hours of sleep or class?"

Second, if there's small assignments, don't think that you can get away with not doing them because the assignment is only x amount of points. After 12 assignments that are only worth 5 points, that's 60 points you miss out on. Do the short assignments. Because really, they're short. They're easy and quick. It's an almost painless twenty minutes of your time. Trust me on this, I thought I'd be smart in one class and not do the things that were only two points because "they didn't really matter." If someone tells you this, please for the love of God, slap them and tell them to do their work.

Third, if you're having trouble in a class, don't wait until the end of the semester to talk to your professor. It doesn't end well. At that point, there isn't much the professor can do for you, so it's in your best interest to talk to them when you start having problems. If you don't understand something, most professors have office hours. Talk to the TA. Do something about it though. It's not fun when you contact a teacher at the end of the semester and they say "Well, as of now, I can't do anything to help you but say: study hard for the final." Is it possible to change your grade much with just your final? Maybe. Likely? No.

Lastly, college is a big transition. High school, no matter what anyone tells you, will not prepare you for college. It's a big change, but it's manageable. I just kept looking at it like, "well, it's a big change, so it's understandable if I don't do so good right now." That's not the right way to go about it though. Saying, "Yeah, this is a big adjustment, but if I try and do good now, it'll be a bigger accomplishment and if I fail, then that's okay."

College is difficult. But it's not impossible.

You got this.

The College Diaries {the first and second}

Somehow, I accidentally deleted my first two college diaries posts, but this is the basis of these posts:

Once a week, hopefully every Friday, I'll make a post about my week at college or something relating to college life. I hope it helps all of you out there that aren't in college yet or that I can relate to others that are in college! :)

Friends.

Basically, in my life, my friends are the best thing I have.
I truly don't have many friends anymore.
I have very few compared to the amount I used to have.
However, the few that I have, I'd probably be a horrible person without them.
Granted, in the past three or so years, I went from being friends with all girls and all of my friends being relatively quiet.
Now, my friends are about half and half guys and girls.
I don't agree with a lot of my friends' choices but I know one thing I agree with.
Their sense of humor, their love for each other, the constant laughs, the most random times of hanging out, and their general love for just being together.
I have the greatest friends in the world in my opinion and recently, I've been more concerned with the amount of friends than the quality.
I've been like that for a few years actually.
But now, I think I'm finally realizing that though I don't have many friends, I have the best ones for me.
Friends are the biggest blessing in our lives and I am forever thankful for all of them.

The lyrics.

I've been in a weird mood today. I don't know why or whether this mood is good or bad.
The only thing that I know today is: lyrics are different to me today.
I don't know why. It sounds strange, but music just sounds different today.
I have really weird feelings right now, so many contradicting feelings.
Listening to music has been my entire day today, but the lyrics just feel different today.
I can't explain what's happening to me and I don't know if I like it.
One thing I do know: you hear the music when you're happy, you understand the lyrics when you're not, you love both when you don't know how to feel.

I know this was short and a weird post, but it's just my feelings today.

Trust Me..

Lately, people have been very, very untrusting toward me.
One for a mistake I made two years ago,
and one that is solely based on doubt.
It's kinda hurtful, to be honest.
Especially the second one.
Just because you assume things, it doesn't mean you're always right.
Because of these two things,
I will be spending my summer before my senior year of high school at. my. grandma's. Yes, I said that. Not at home, like any other normal teenager; at my grandma's. Yeah, save me.
Another result?
I can't talk to one of my best friends because her mom doesn't trust us when we say something didn't happen. it. didn't.
I don't understand people.
It makes me so mad..
and upset.
I was so happy when my friend moved here, and now I can't talk to her.
:(

Anyone have any advice for me?
Anything at all...

p.s. Today is officially my last day of being a junior. ): Sadface. But happy about summer... But sad again, because this also means I may not be posting near as much... ): I'm sorry; I'll try to post as much as I can!! <3

Reality.

Lately, I've been brought back into reality.
In particular, the reality of my coming senior year.
In exactly two weeks from today is my last day as a junior.
Last day.
...this is scary.
Next, I'll be a senior, my last year here in my comfort zone with people I've grown up with and know.
This could be my last full summer at home.
I mean really, I have my application to dual enroll next year at the college.
I'm scared...but excited.
Regardless of the complaining from people at my school about it, I love my school.
Love it.
And I only have one more year left.
In a year, I'll be just one week away from graduating.
This is crazy.

Any thoughts on your experiences with this?
They'd be appreciated.

Love you all!

Perspective in five.

Linking up with {The Gypsy Mama's 5 Minute Friday} -- Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.

GO!

You know, when you think about it, our perspective on everything shows a lot more about ourselves than anything.
It's like the glass half full versus half empty thing.
Depending on which one you see, it shows a lot about your personality, your life, and just you.
Everything could be seen as bad through one person's perspective, and good through someone else's.
Everyone has a different perspective on everything.
It's really cool when you think about it though.
Like a little kid could fall.
One person would be like "Oh, no! He's hurt! Go get a wash cloth, and a band-aid, and Neosporin, and..."
Where another could be thinking "Oh, that's not bad. It could have been worse, and hey, everything happens for a reason. Maybe him falling now prevent him from doing something later could could result in a much bigger accident."
See, your perspective is everything.
You could be that person who sees everything as negative, or you could be that cheerful, optimistic person who thinks everything that happens is for a reason, and not to worry so much.

STOP!

I have hope.

I would just like to say, that I'm gaining back faith in teenagers..
Regardless of the few shallow, harsh people who says things just to make others feel bad, there are some who ARE trying to turn it around!
Examples?
A friend of mine ahs started a group on Facebook, which is now becoming a school club, called Words Can Kill (an anti-bullying group).
China McClain (the star of ANT Farm on Disney Channel), along with her sisters, Sierra and Lauryn, have made a song titled "Rise," a very inspirational song.
The McClain sisters

Many other artists have been making inspirational, non-bullying songs as well.
Shinedown: Bully.
Lyrics to "Bully"

Mandisa: Stronger.
Lyrics to "Stronger"

Tobymac: Hold On.
Lyrics to "Hold On"

These are such great songs, and I'm happy people are finally starting to realize that what you say DOES matter.
People take things to heart.
Be careful with what you say.
It can hurt.

Love you all!

Invisible.

Some days, I really feel invisible.
Today...definitely one of those days.
No one notices me...
No one really talks to me...
When I talk, they don't hear me.
I hate days like this.
So much.

These...
These are the days I'm glad I have my God.
These are the days I need God.
These are the days I need God.
More than anything.

I don't really know what else to say today...

Song of the day? Invisible by Disciple.

Love you all!

Old friends.

This one's gunna be a post about my life-- not clothes.

So lately, I've really been thinking about my old friends, and how many I've lost.
Another thing? How to get them back.

I miss my friends.
I really, really miss them.

Which is why when I got a comment on a status on Facebook from an old best friend, it made my day. This girl and me, we were inseperable. No joke. We did everything together. We knew everything about each other. She's the one who brought me to youth group for the first time. At one point, my mom was considering letting her live with us (which is huge because my mom would never let that happen).

So anyways, we texted for another three hours.
And she's said that the only way we'll be friends is if I apologize, in person.
Which I've refused to do for months. I just don't do that.

But.
I asked her to wait for me after fourth hour today.
So I can apologize.
This is big, guys.
I don't do this.
But I miss her, more than most of the other friends I've lost.
So I'm doing it, regardless of what I've done in the past.
